 Cathy Ann Laurie and daughter
Angel perform Aloha! ceremony for Zita
Carno, a supporter of B.A.S.S. for seven years, having donated her
considerable talents to the event each year. Planning to retire from the L.A.
Philharmonic Orchestra this Fall. Carno announced her intent to move to
Hawaii. Florida is her target, now. Sarasota and the winter home for the Giants will
be her backyard and a big interest for the longtime fan. |

Zita Carno (on right) is seen here with her friend Mimi. Ms.
Zita played solo a collection of gypsy dances for her classical selection. She
played a heart rending version of Niama with Dr. Davis,
who regrets not Recording it with her. Many in attendance were teary-eyed. |
Very popular with the audience, The Trio
led by Yonaton Elkayam (center) on bass, Randy
Ingram (right) on piano, and Matt Glaser (left) on
drums. Yonaton expects to be in San Francisco shortly. |
 The irrepressible Charles Owens,
master of the woodwinds played a charming Duet with Dr. Art Davis
on bass, Tin Tin Deo by Dizzy Gilespie. Owens was on his
way to the Thurmin Green event in LA at the Musicians Union. |

Headliner, The One and Only Mr.
Steve Allen (middle), seen here with B.A.S.S. host Dr. Art
Davis (right) and his son Kimaili.
(left). Mr. Allen played a selection of classical standards with Dr. Davis on
bass. Allen spoke breifly on the need to elevate the spoken word in entertainment,
to take a higher road because, he pointed out, verbal abuse has terrible costs, and though
it may be shocking, its not funny |
